What documents do I need to have a hydrogeological survey or drilling done?

•    In order for Water For All Ltd to ensure that the person requesting for a hydrogeological survey or borehole drilling is the legal owner or representative of the legal owner of the property where the work is to be done, the following will need to be shared: -
•    Kenyan National ID
•    Title Deed
•    KRA Pin Certificate
•    Power of Attorney (in case title deed is in name of a deceased person)
•    A hydrogeological report (In case one had already been done)

How deep is a borehole supposed to be?

•    The depth of the borehole depends on the hydrogeological survey depth estimates for the borehole. The Borehole Drilling company will usually dig the borehole according to the recommended depth from the hydro geologists however it can be deeper or shallow as per the conditions found.

Why is borehole drilling so expensive in Kenya?

•    Drilling a borehole is a very specialized activity therefore it requires well-equipped machinery, materials, and highly trained personnel to deliver. The cost includes the fuel used, gravel pack, drilling bits, steel rods, casings, and other items that are used in the borehole drilling and are costly. Water For All Ltd will make sure that the price given to our clients is reasonable compared to other service providers?

How long does it take to drill a borehole?

•    The duration depends on many factors including; the distance and accessibility to the site, the geology of the landscape and any complications that might arise on the site. Once all the equipment arre on-site a 250m borehole should take 3 to 4 days, unless complications arise.

Steel or Plastic casing which one is better?

•    In Kenya there are two types of casings available in borehole drilling, plastic casing and a steel casing. Plastic casing is cheap and is usually used for depths less than 100 meters because it's not as strong. On the other hand, steel is quite expensive, strong and rigid and can go for large depths.

How long will a borehole last?

•    A well-constructed Borehole can last for generations though some boreholes might require rehabilitation after some years to ensure that they are in good working condition. Water For All Ltd has successfully drilled and rehabilitated many boreholes for commercial and domestic use which are still up and running to date.

Why do I need a water analysis report?

•    After drilling the borehole and doing test pumping, Water For All Ltd, will take a water sample to the government laboratory for testing. A water analysis report will be generated which indicates whether the water is safe for domestic/industrial consumption.

What is the cost of drilling a bore hole in Kenya?

•    A complete borehole project of average depth of 150-200 metres is estimated to cost 1.5 to 2 million Kenyan Shillings.
•    Borehole Drilling costs vary due to many aspects. The main cost of drilling a borehole is dependent upon the depth and amount of casing that the borehole will require. Drilling cost is calculated per depth (metres). The type of Geology that we have to drill through has some influence as well as the actual ground conditions. Clients distance from Nairobi will also affect the costing for drilling. The drilling diameter also is considered during costing.
•    After drilling the following activities follow;
•    Test pumping-24 hours and 48 hours
•    Supply and installation of a borehole cap
•    Water Chemical Analysis and borehole report.

What type of equipment is used?

•    The type of equipment used depends on the ground condition on site, and the type and depth of the borehole required.

Do you guarantee to find water?

•    No. And be very careful of any company that offers you a guarantee! The water table is by its nature, impossible to control and predict. The Geological Survey does, however, provide a very reliable indication of water location and depth. In the unlikely event that we do not find water on your site, you will only be charged for the mobilisation and drilling time.

What happens if the borehole water has excessive mineral content or contamination?

•    Water For All Ltd will provide and install a water treatment unit to ensure the water is perfectly drinkable and ready for you to enjoy.
